Supporting Hospice Makes a Difference
All services are provided without charge to patients and their families.

Helping people in great time of need can be one of the most rewarding things you can do to contribute to enhancing the quality of life in a community. That’s why volunteers, individuals, businesses, churches, foundations and community groups who financially support the Talbot Hospice Foundation find great joy in making a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Since 1981, the Talbot Hospice Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, has relied solely on the generosity of its community to ensure that its programs and services continue to be provided without charge. Friends of Hospice, a separate non-profit organization, also raises significant support for our services through the annual Festival of Trees event.

While Talbot Hospice’s medical partner, Shore Home Care Hospice, bills Medicare, Medicaid and other private insurers, the Foundation receives no reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid or any other insurance payer. Only through gifts from the community can the programs and services of Talbot Hospice continue to benefit the lives of the individuals and families it serves.

MAKE A DONATION
By supporting Talbot Hospice, your gift will stay in the community, supporting many of the family, friends, neighbors and co-workers who have or will benefit from the love and care of hospice. You may send a check or money order to Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, MD 21601 or you may make a gift online. Contact the Talbot Hospice Foundation's Director of Development and Communications, Kate Cox, at 410-822-6681 or at kcox@talbothospice.org for more information on these and other giving opportunities.

Memorial or ‘In Honor of’ Gifts
A memorial gift to The Talbot Hospice Foundation honors the memory of a loved one. Annual memorial contributions are often made to commemorate a loved one’s special occasion or birthday. Families may also specify "Contributions can be made to the Talbot Hospice Foundation in lieu of flowers" in funeral notices. This is a wonderful way to help cover the costs of equipment, supplies, volunteer training, care in the Guest Wing and other costs the Foundation incurs.

‘In Honor of’ gifts are a thoughtful way to say ‘thank you’ to a special person, or to commemorate a birthday, wedding, anniversary or other occasion.

Gifts are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law and may be eligible for a matching contribution from your current or former employer. Upon request, we will also send an acknowledgement of the honor or memorial gift to whomever you wish.

Make a donation 'in Memory of 'or 'In Honor of' a loved one by credit card on our secure site, or mail your check made payable to:

Talbot Hospice Foundation
586 Cynwood Drive
Easton, MD 21601

On the memo line of the check write 'In Memory of' or 'In Honor of' and include the person’s name. Please also include a note with your check letting us know which family member you want us to notify, along with the address, and we will send a letter letting them know that you have made a contribution to Hospice in memory of, or in honor of, their loved one.  We do not include the amount of your donation in this letter.

Planned Giving
Planning a gift to Talbot Hospice Foundation allows individuals to provide significant support to its programs and services, often with dramatic tax and financial rewards to the donor. Gift planning combines financial planning, estate planning and tax planning to help donors choose the best way to support Talbot Hospice through their planned giving.  All planned gifts are invested in our endowment, where they remain in principle in perpetuity.  Interest from your planned gift will be used to support Talbot Hospice programs for years to come, a significant legacy for any donor.

Bequests
Individuals can name the Talbot Hospice Foundation as a beneficiary in their wills. A bequest might be an outright gift of cash, a percentage of an estate, mutual funds, stocks, real estate or personal property. A bequest allows individuals to make contributions without sacrificing spendable income during their lifetime, while sheltering their estate from taxes.

Gifts of Life Insurance
Making a gift of life insurance enables individuals to arrange a future gift to Talbot Hospice without financial impact during their lifetime. Talbot Hospice can be named as a beneficiary or owner of a life insurance policy. Charitable tax deductions may also apply to these gifts.

Charitable Trusts
Charitable trusts enable donors to make a sizeable contribution to Talbot Hospice while receiving significant tax deductions and other tax benefits. By assigning an amount of their assets to the charitable trust - the trust “holds” the assets and pays out the income for those assets - interest or dividends, for example - according to an individual’s instructions.

Gift Annuities
A charitable gift annuity provides donors with an actual dollar return for their investment, which may be higher than those available from certificates of deposit or passbook savings. Donors may opt for a single life annuity, or a double life annuity, which guarantees them income for the rest of their life, and then for the life of a person they designate following their death.

For more information on making a planned gift, contact your attorney, financial planner or the Talbot Hospice Foundation's Director of Development and Communications, Kate Cox, at 410-822-6681 or at kcox@talbothospice.org for more information on these and other giving opportunities.
