The group meets every week, reservations are not necessary. Come as you are and find support from those who are in a similar situation.

The Next Chapter
Losing a spouse turns life upside down. This group is designed specifically for widows to share experiences, learn ways to deal with grief and loneliness and receive positive support as they begin a new life. The class meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays from
4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Call 410-822-6681 for more information.

Return to Laughter
Laughter is therapeutic and an especially valuable form of social support that helps us deal with stress in our lives. Enjoy this contagious therapy as we help each other find the laughs in everyday life. Open to all, this program meets at 11:00 am on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at Hospice House. Come and join us.

Survivors of Suicide (SOS)
A collaborative effort between Talbot Hospice and the Mental Health assocaiton of Talbot County.

Those who experience the death of a loved one by suicide often find the path through shock and grief to be painful, confusing and lonely. Survivors often struggle with shame and guilt and may not know anyone who has been through this experience .Friends and family, who are suffering themselves, often are not able to give the needed comfort and understanding. Coping with the death of a loved one by suicide is one of the most agonizing experiences that one may encounter. The Suicide Survivors Group provides the opportunity for participants to share and hear from others who have had similar experiences. Group members will find a supportive atmosphere of validation and acceptance where confidentiality is highly valued. The group will begin on September 27, 2010 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Talbot Hospice House. The group will meet for six consecutive weeks. Call Norma Trax at 401-833-6681 to register.

Looking Ahead

Looking Ahead is a six-week educational support group addressing the sorrows and heartaches that accompany a death and how to gather the strength to move forward. The Wednesday evening class will address a variety of topics including; the stages of grief, typical grief reactions, how to handle holidays, coping with stress, anger, guilt and sadness and the changes in roles and relationships resulting from loss. Through sharing stories, thoughts and feelings, we learn that we are not alone, that others are in a similar situation with similar reactions and that we feel better by reaching out to one another. Led by Norma Trax-LCSW-C, Talbot Hospice Bereavement Coordinator. A new group will begin on October 27, 2010 from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. Please call 410-822-6681 to register.
